County to be assessed $20,500 for utility project

September 27th, 2007

Sibley County is proposed to be assessed as part of Gaylord’s utility upgrades.

County Attorney Dave Schauer informed commissioners Tuesday that Sibley County was notified that it may be assessed $20,550 for stormwater access charges. Sibley County is being assessed for the courthouse and annex, and for the county’s parking lot on the south side of the courthouse.

According to Auditor Lisa Pfarr, Sibley County’s proposed assessment for the courthouse and annex is $18,902, while the proposed charge for the south parking lot is $1,648. Sibley County’s assessment was calculated the same way as other commercial properties in Gaylord.

Pfarr said that the proposed assessment, payable next year, was not included in the county’s 2008 budget. The county also has the option to make payments over a 20 year period at 6% interest.

Commissioner Leo Bauer, who represents the Gaylord area, was designated to attend the city’s public hearing Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Lakeview Home basement.
