EDA to offer landscape firm lot in Industrial Park
September 20th, 2007Gaylord’s Economic Develop-ment Authority is assisting Pro Landscape Maintenance to find a new home in Gaylord.
Troy Bonkowske, Gaylord’s EDA coordinator, said that the EDA committee, which consists of City Attorney Doug Nesvig, EDA member Shirley Meger, and himself, met and felt it would be more appropriate to offer incentives for a lot in the industrial park.
The proposal involves lot one of the industrial park, the first lot off of Tower Street, across from Wolf Motors.
Bonkowske said that Pro Landscape Maintenance is interested in selling retail, and felt that the frontage would be a good location. Pro Landscape would need half of a lot, .82 of an acre. Bonkowske said that if Pro Landscape chooses to have the retail, they would have the front half of the lot, otherwise the back half of the lot would be available
Bonkowske said that he hopes to have a draft proposal between the EDA and Pro Landscape Maintenance for the October 8 meeting. He added that he would prefer to see the tax abatement economic development tool used for this project, rather than tax increment financing.
Initially there was a verbal agreement between Pro Landscape Maintenance and the EDA to develop the lot west of the NAPA. Friederichs approached the city, saying that he felt that would be an ideal location for the new ambulance garage and would like assistance finding a new location. The Council recently decided that the lot west of NAPA, on East Jefferson Avenue, would be the preferred location for the new ambulance garage.
