Wolverines fall to Le Sueur-Hend. 3-1
September 6th, 2007Sibley East’s volleyballers fell to host Le Sueur-Henderson 23-25, 9-25, 25-17, 19-25 in non-conference play last Tuesday.
Despite the setback, Sibley East head coach Chip Wolverton was happy with his team’s progress.
“Much like our first match, we played three close games against a quality opponent,” Wolverton said. “We made more progress, especially after a disappointing game two. I was pleased with the way the girls bounced back and made it close the rest of the way.”
Junior Lindsay Thomes and senior Abby Marshall led Sibley East at the net. They tallied ten and seven kills respectively on the night.
Thomes and Ashley Martens powered the Sibley East service game. They were a combined 32 of 33 from the service stripe with four aces.
Martens also led the Wolverines defense with 15 digs while Renae Rose and Abby Sharp contributed eight digs apiece.
Sibley East sophomore Erin Evans charted a season high 33 set assists against the Giants. Thomes, Rose and Megan Mahon added one block apiece.
The Lady Wolverines, 0-3, will tip off its Minnesota River Conference (MRC) season Thursday at Belle Plaine. Sibley East will play in a tournament at Mankato on Saturday, then host Holy Family on Tuesday, September 11th.
