EDA will wait on agreement to sell Entegris building

August 16th, 2007

Gaylord’s Economic Development Authority, Monday night, decided to wait until next month to address a proposal from a local realtor to sell the Entegris building in the industrial park.

According to City Attorney Doug Nesvig, a local realtor has a prospect for the building. The realtor would like an agreement with the city to receive 3% commission. This would be a nonexclusive contract for a one year period, Nesvig explained.

Troy Bonkowske, EDA coordinator, said he will come back next month with a recommendation about the proposal.

EDA president Chuck Klimmek said that the EDA should review the offer given to a different company last year to purchase the Entegris building. Interim City Administrator Lori Waltz and Nesvig will meet to determine the amount owed on the building.

Entegris’ lease for the building expires in 2009.

In other business, the EDA:

• Was informed by Klimmek that a grant application has been submitted to the Minnesota Housing Partnership to fund a mobile home park study. The EDA is expected to hear soon whether or not it was awarded the grant.

• Was updated by Jerry Hahn on the Main Avenue mini strip mall. Hahn anticipated his final set of plans will be received this week, with construction expected to begin in September.

• Will discuss next month whether or not to provide increased compensation for Lori Waltz, who is serving as the interim city administrator. Waltz said that she has received $150/month to serve as the EDA accountant. Former city administrator Lonny Johnson was also paid $150/month to serve as the EDA executive director.

• Learned from Tim Dolan, Sibley County economic development director, that the county will soon be making requests for the cities to contribute toward a county trails program. The county plans to apply for funds through the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Dolan said that there could be 60 miles of trails in Sibley County.

• Learned that money is available through the Small Cities Development Program grant for business, residential, and rental housing improvements.
