County Fair opens gates August 1
July 27th, 2007Gates to the 138th annual Sibley County Fair will open at Arlington Wednesday, August 1.
Opening day serves as registration day for 4-H and open classes. The Queen coronation is set for 6:30 p.m. The Midway opens at 7:00 p.m.
Thursday August 2 is demonstration day and includes the Bake ’n Taste event and 4-H Share the Fun programs.
Senior Citizens take the spotlight on Friday, August 3 with activities of Senior “flavor.” The county’s outstanding Senior Citizens will be named. Three hours of free sweet corn will be available beginning at 3:00.
The focus switches to youngsters on August 4 - Children’s Day. Activities and entertainment will be directed at youngsters. The Sibley County Sheriff’s Posse will also be in the spotlight.
Sunday, August 5, the traditional Family Day, will feature a polka church service at 11:00 a.m. Barrel racing and a tractor pull are also on tap.
$1,000 in scrip will be awarded at a grandstand drawing each evening.
