Relay For Life Friday – Saturday in Gaylord City Park
June 21st, 2007Sibley County’s 12th Annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life will be held Friday and Saturday at the Gaylord City Park. The event will begin at 5 p.m. Friday and conclude at 5 a.m. Saturday. The public is invited to attend the event.
Campsite fund raising activities will begin at 5 p.m. Free entertainment will begin at 5 p.m. and continues until the opening ceremony begins.
The Opening Ceremony and Survivor’s Victory Lap will begin at 7 p.m. Cancer survivors who wish to participate are asked to register at the Gaylord Roller Skating Rink. New Auburn VFW Post 7266 will participate in the ceremony.
The luminary lighting ceremony is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.
Eleven teams from Sibley County are participating in Relay For Life. Corporate sponsors are the Green Isle Lions Club, Gaylord Game Protective League, Pro Growth Bank of Gaylord, Green Isle Fire Department, Gaylord Firefighters, and Sibley Medical Center.
13-year-old Whitney Osborne of rural Arlington is the honorary chairperson. Osborne was diagnosed with leukemia in 2004. Her cancer is in remission.
