New council member may be appointed next week

April 16th, 2007

Gaylord’s City Council is hoping to appoint a new member at its April 18th meeting.
“You have two weeks to throw your hat in the ring,” Gaylord Mayor Doug Quast announced Wednesday as he encouraged potential candidates.

A vacancy on the City Council evolved on March 21st when Sue Jacobson announced her resignation. A difference of opinion on the direction Gaylord is heading appeared to be the primary reason for her resignation. Jacobson served as a council member since 2005.

According to the City of Gaylord charter, the open position on the council will be filled until the next municipal election which is scheduled for November, 2008.

Interested candidates are asked to contact the City of Gaylord office at 237-2338.
