Combined Charities drive begins this week

April 16th, 2007

Gaylord Combined Charities will begin their annual fund drive this week. Residents will receive an information envelope in the mail and will be able to choose to which charity they would like to donate. Undesignated donations will be divided equally among the charities listed on the envelope.

Make checks payable to Gaylord Combined Charities. Do not make them to a specific organization. Mail or drop off the envelopes at ProGrowth Bank, First National Bank of Minnesota, or at the Gaylord City Office in City Hall by May 15, 2007.

Gaylord Combined Charities was formed with the intention of giving local residents an opportunity to give to their favorite charities and help eliminate their constant giving by mail or phone.

Last year, Combined Charities raised $6,059 to distribute among 27 charities.

The Combined Charities committee is made up of volunteers dedicated to offering this service to Gaylord residents. We cannot eliminate door-to-door charities or mailings, we can only offer this form of donating as an alternative. The charities listed on the envelope are reviewed yearly and must meet specific requirements. They are considered to be nonprofit, and if funded by another source, must show the committee in writing where the monies are being spent. Another priority is to keep as much money local as possible.

If you have any questions or have a request to add a charity, please contact one of the following committee members: Ann Whalen, Harriet Troldahl, Lori Waltz, Sheila Knacke, Nancy Cowell, Ingrid Kehr.
