Security camera proposed for Court waiting area
February 22nd, 2007The waiting area outside of the Sibley County Courtrooms will soon be more secure.
County Commissioners, last week, approved purchasing a security camera for the waiting area outside the Courtrooms. The cost is estimated to be $2,000, according to Court Administrator Karen Messner.
The camera will be installed as part of updating Sibley County’s Courtroom technology. This project is expected to take place this spring.
In other business, the County Commissioners:
• Were informed by Messner that filings increased from 3,873 in 2005 to 3,923 in 2006. Messner said that most of the increase was in traffic, but there was also small increases in criminal and juvenile cases.
• Learned that Court Administration received $586,697.62 in revenues for the state and county combined. $4,869 was for juvenile restitution that is used within Sibley County.
• Were told that Court Administration received $17,917.39 in payments from revenue recapture. The revenue recapture covers restitution, fines and surcharges. In 2006, Court Administration set up 392 payment schedules. 343 individuals are on revenue recapture, and 12 individuals are on wage withholding.
