Pettis elected chairman of County Board
January 20th, 2007Fifth District County Commissioner Harold Pettis of Gibbon was elected chairman at the County Board’s organizational meeting January 2.
Pettis is replacing Second District Commissioner Bill Pinske of Arlington.
Third District Commissioner Leo Bauer of Gaylord was elected vice chairman of the board, replacing Pettis who held the position last year.
Appointments were made to various committees. They were:

In other business, the commissioners:
• Appointed the Gaylord Hub as the official newspaper for Sibley County in 2007 at a rate of $7.25 per column inch. There is a 50% discount on the second publication. The legal rate increased from $7.05 per column inch in 2006.
• Awarded the Gaylord Hub the publication of the 2007 financial statement for the same rate as the legal rate.
• Designated the Sibley County Web site for publication of all transportation construction projects done by Sibley County Public Works.
• Authorized county officials and department heads to attend national, state, regional and district association meetings in 2007.
• Amended the rules of order to allow the chair of the board to make and second motions and resolutions of the county board.
• Established Sibley County change funds for 2007. Treasurer – $5,000; Recorder – $200; Auditor – $650, Public Health Nurse – $250, Sheriff – $50. Change fund totals $6,150.
