January thaw?

January 4th, 2007

Open water on Lake Titloe

Take caution if you’re planning on testing the ice on Lake Titloe. Warmer than normal temperatures and gusty winds have produced a large patch of open water on the east end of the lake.

For the past 25 days, temperatures have been well above average and December was the sixth warmest on record in Minnesota. Meteorologists are predicting above normal temperatures for the next ten days. The coldest temperatures of the season are typically during the first and second weeks of January.
