Delford W. Goetsch – 85

Delford W. Goetsch, age 85, of Gaylord, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2006, at the Gaylord Lakeview Home in Gaylord. Funeral Service was 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2006, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord, with interment in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Gaylord. The Rev. Fredric Hinz officiated.

Delford GoetschDelford William Goetsch was born on July 8, 1921, in Dryden Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. He was the son of Albert and Ida (Schauer) Goetsch. Delford was baptized as an infant on July 24, 1921, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on April 14, 1935, both at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dryden Township (Mountville) Sibley County. He received his education at Mountville Parochial School and graduated from Gaylord High School in 1940.

Delford was united in marriage with Agnes Mielke on January 9, 1942, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Auburn. This union was blessed with two children, Sheldon and Lynette. The couple resided on the Goetsch family farm until 1949, when they moved into Gaylord. Delford and Agnes shared 64 years of marriage.

Delford worked many years in the implement business with his brothers, Bennie and Arnold. He retired on May 11, 1989.

Delford was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord.

Delford loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He and Agnes had many fun times with their grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards.

Delford is survived by his wife, Agnes Goetsch of Gaylord; son, Sheldon Goetsch and his wife, Barbara of Gaylord; daughter, Lynette Fuller and her husband, Gordon of Grand Rapids; six grandchildren, Bradley Goetsch and his wife, Debra of Henderson, Danielle Goetsch and her special friend, Mike Schmidt of Gaylord, Timothy Goetsch and his wife, Jill of Alexandria, Christopher Goetsch and his wife, Charlene of Albertville, Robert Vagts and his wife, Kara of St. Michael, and Daniel Vagts and his wife, Shanna of Maple Grove; step-grandchildren, Mark Fuller and his special friend, Tammy Lanning of Sioux Falls, SD, and Lynn Goff and her husband, Brad of Bentonville, AR and respective families; seven great-grandchildren, Ava, Grace; Peyton; Raquel, Autumn, Hunter Goetsch; and Jakob Vagts; sister, Rosie Timm of Alexandria; sister-in-law, Elvera (Mrs. Arnold) Goetsch of Chapel Hill, NC; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Delford was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ida Goetsch; brothers, Bennie Goetsch and his wife, Luverne; Arnold Goetsch and his first wife, Eleanor; sisters, Ella Perbix and her husband, Ray; Malinda Doerre and her husband, Clarence; Brother-in-law, Ellsworth Timm.

Casket Bearers were grandchildren Bradley Goetsch, Danielle Goetsch, Timothy Goetsch, Christopher Goetsch, Robert Vagts and Daniel Vagts.
